- e) You can set the “spread”, based on your percentage expectancy on the next hand. Typically this is only 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, with the last two being very rare. If it thinks you should bet zero, it will tell you to bet zero, although you can set it so that you bet one unit every hand or only miss, say, 5 hands without betting.
- f) You can play for “monopoly money” against DIABLE without staking a penny, and if you intend to play in “land-based” casinos this is a great way to improve. You will get a .csv file with all the hands you play in a session and it will tell you of your staking and play errors.
- g) You can play for rating points only, by selecting “play timed rated session”. It will give you ten seconds per decision and an average error and a total number of hands played. For example, you might have played 60 hands with an average error of 0.03. The average player makes an error of around 0.05 per hand. The site will show the leading players who have.
- h) When you play a timed rating session of 100 hands, you get a grandmaster norm if you made an average error under 0.01 and an international master norm if you made an average error under 0.02. You need three such norms for a title but there is no limit to the number of attempts you can make.

The above is a screenshot for one online game. You are playing five seats with a staking of 1, 1, 1, 1 and 3. The last seat sees more cards so has a larger bet. Seat 1 bust, even though basic strategy would have been to stand. Seat 2 and Seat 3 both stood. Seat 4 hit 12 and receive a 3 but the program recommended hitting again and the player received a six. The difference was small, -0.3576 for hitting and -0.3584 for standing. But no other software would have found this play.
The program recommends insurance perfectly, and splits tens rarely but perfectly. Paul Lamford has tested it on several online casinos, and it has not made an error for at least a year. Any bugs have been technical to do with anti-virus software or Java or AWS bugs. So you can use it with great confidence. But at your own risk, it has to be stressed.
Which Games to Play with Diable
One Bet
The best game seems to be One Bet from Pragmatic Play. This is so-called as any number can play but there is only one seat. The house margin on the main bet is about 0.3%:

The above is flat staking, The Hint Bet of 0 suggests you should sit it out, which will not to be everyone’s taste. The Hint Bet of 1 has negative expectancy but a side bet is recommended, so should be staked as you must have a main bet to have a side bet. Of course increasing the size of the hint bet will make a profit as can be seen from the margins.

This is a side bet with an RTP of 94%. It still seems to be there even though it offers positive returns on a number of occasions when the deck is full of sevens.
The margin on this bet is very good. Particularly when the expectancy is >105%. It is barely worth recording the suits as the margin fluctuates so little but that option is available.

Not as lucrative as the Crazy Sevens Bet, but still very good. I think the Crazy Sevens Bet might well be removed at some point, but the Buster Bet is more likely to stay.

It is very rare that this offers an advantage. Diable had one bet in 90,000 hands, remarkably winning at 24-1.
21+3
Again very few bets on this. Only 2 in 90,000 hands and breaking even.
Insurance
This is a bet that should always be taken when correct. It lost in the sample we had. Notwithstanding that we should take it when the program says we should.

This game is hard to evaluate as Evolution will not tell us the exact distribution of the various multipliers. And they can change them at any time. This is a volatile game which seems to have a significant disadvantage on the estimated distributions. There are no side bets either.
Blackjack Boost
This game is much better and specifies how many cards are given a boost and what the values of those boosts are. It has been calculated to be around 0.6% for the house. The IP is owned jointly by Geoff Hall, Naftali Merari and Paul Lamford.
Single Deck
This is perfect for leisurely play for anyone who does not want to rush their decisions. The version that should be played is Microgaming’s Single Deck Multi Hand game which allows five players. Correct strategy is to stake 1 for each of hands 1-4 and at least 3 units for hand the more you stake on hand 5 the more you will expect to make as this hand sees more cards. The margins if you stake 1 on each hand. The margin by seat:

It can be seen that the margin in seat 5 is 0.37%. The player should always stake 1 unit on boxes 1-4 and at least 3 units on box 5. If the player stakes 1000, the maximum, on box 5, then the “team play” function should be used and this elevates the margin to 1.1%. However, this requires a very big bankroll. Overbetting will lead to tapping out, and a bankroll of £1,200,000 is needed for the bet of 10004 to be the correct Kelly bet.
Insurance
This is particularly lucrative in this game as there is only one deck. The stats:

The player is offered insurance 7.7% of the time and he takes it about a third of that time. He therefore makes an extra 0.198% per hand (as he only stakes half of the main bet). This would elevate the margin betting 1000 on hand 5 to 0.55% which is very large. With team play that gets up to 1.2%. Playing every hand with shuffling after every hand and unfavourable rules.
Conclusion
I think best is to play in equal measure the One Blackjack from Pragmatic Play and the Single Deck game from Microgaming. Other games are not as good for the player.
